Library & Learning Commons – Summer 2015

An exciting new development has been taking place at the Avenue Campus (Faculty of Humanities) throughout Summer 2015.  The Library & Learning Commons will be a new space for students to study and access some of their core Library and Language Learning Resources: including a significant Film collection. The Hartley Library, a short walk away on the University Highfield campus, holds the majority of text books and journals for subjects taught across the University.

The key benefits of the new service will be:

  • Increased seating and individual study spaces
  • Greater variety of seating to suit individual preferences
  • Space for advisory consultations with staff
  • Bookable Group Study Rooms (with Skype)
  • New Help & Information Desk
  • Same site HOLDS: recall on-loan books and books from other sites to Avenue
  • Improved loans facilities: new self-issue and self-return machines with the option to return Hartley books (and books from other site libraries) at Avenue.

Work is still progressing. The first phase of the project will be completed in time for the start of term, September 2015.
