So – I wonder how many of you have spotted these cool dudes, currently hanging out in Hartley Library? There are 17 of them in all and all sport different styles of knitwear. Intrigued? The Library Knitting Group has dressed our visitors and arranged them somewhere in the Library – but you may have to look upwards to find them. They are a little taste of what awaits you on Level 4 where we currently have 2 exhibitions running alongside each other. The first and largest one is an exhibition of doctoral research projects from Winchester School of Art – named Image-Text-Object: practices of research. If you follow this into the Special Collections Gallery, you will enter the world of Knitting with an exhibition of selected material from the Knitting Collections and Knitting Reference Library, entitled Knitting 1914-2014. Even if you are not a knitter, this is a fascinating and colourful history with some famous faces modelling knits on patterns, presumably early in their career!
