The first University of Southampton MOOC has now launched through FutureLearn, a company owned by The Open University and partnered with over 20 UK and International Universities. From the 11th November, you will be able to study with the University on the course, ‘Web Science: How the Web is changing the World.’ The course duration is 6 weeks and requires around 3 hours of week of study. Delivered by two senior academics at the University, the course is designed to connect learners and give them an opportunity to study something that requires no previous knowledge or qualifications. However if web science isn’t for you then why not try another course offered by other leading institutions? You can pick from courses including how to build your first mobile game, offered by the University of Reading, or ‘The Causes of War’, from King’s College London. I have personally got my eye on ‘Introduction to Forensic Science’ offered by the University of Strathclyde, where you can help to identify a murderer and learn how to process a crime scene!
The FutureLearn website lists the full range of courses currently available but the list is expected to grow over the coming months so do take a look….
