Awaiting the Delphic Oracle

Yes – changes are indeed afoot this summer.  One that we have on test at the moment is DelphiS – our new search system, named optimistically after the Delphic Oracle (the S at the end being for Southampton).  Once fully installed, DelphiS will be capable of fast searching across most of the Library’s electronic and printed resources, including WebCat, databases and ePrints via a single search.   We expect that the system will speed up retrieval from the vast collections of Library full-text electronic content in particular, as part of a one-stop search process.

We’ll be introducing students to Delphis during the new term’s inductions, giving us a few weeks to iron out any bugs we might find so you will have to wait for now.  But exciting, no?
